Intro to Covid-19

Intro to Covid-19
A Lovely Monday Morning to you all!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING

Do you know……In the wake of recent global development and the fatal impact of Corona Virus (COVID-19) pandemic, I thought of looking up for the simple description of Corona Virus and found this:

                     Coronavirus Image

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by a new coronavirus first identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. Because it is a new virus, scientists around the world are working tirelessly to learn, find, and develop treatments for COVID-19. Coronaviruses are so named because they possess spiked surface proteins, which give the virus surface a crown/corona appearance. Coronaviruses are enveloped viruses (so is Influenza virus), which means they are covered by a membrane of cellular matter taken from their host cell and have single stranded RNA. Bats are common reservoirs of coronaviruses and mostly pass through an intermediate carrier species before infecting humans. On February 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced an official name for this disease, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), where ‘CO’ stands for ‘corona,’ ‘VI’ for ‘virus,’ and ‘D’ for disease. Formerly, this disease was referred to as “2019 novel coronavirus” or “2019-nCoV.”

Researchers found there are seven known coronaviruses that infect humans. Of which four are responsible for about 15% of common colds that affect the upper respiratory tract and cause symptoms like, sore throat or runny nose. The other three coronaviruses have caused major human disease: SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV, and SARS-CoV-2 virus or “the novel coronavirus” as it’s commonly called. These three affect the lower respiratory tract, the lungs, unclear about affecting the upper respiratory tract. SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV were the cause of two major outbreaks in the last two decades in South East Asia and the Middle East. (SARS stands for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, while MERS is Middle Eastern Respiratory System). SARS-CoV-2 virus is a beta coronavirus, like MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV. SARS-CoV was first identified in the Guangdong province of China in 2002, and it spread to more than 30 countries. In the 2002/2003 outbreak, SARS-CoV had about a 10% fatality rate. The intermediate source was civet cats sold in a live meat market, which had been infected by horseshoe bats acting as SARS-CoV reservoirs. SARS-CoV (the 2002/2003 virus) was successfully contained through adequate personal protective equipment for health workers, screening for abnormalities in white blood cell count, and performing chest images. Dr. A. Vaishampayan, an eminent scientist, and a noted scholar, of the prestigious university of India, Banaras Hindu University, compiled this figure from different scientific journals for public information. With his permission, I am sharing this diagram with you.

COVID-19 cases were infected initially via contact with a wet market in Wuhan, China, in November and December 2019, and However, the exact source of this virus has not been identified. COVID-19 fatality rate is impossible to accurately determine as the focus currently is on very ill patients not people who are infected with mild symptoms but are not tested. Although, most people with COVID-19 have mild symptoms include fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, while some could be asymptomatic carrier of this disease. More severe cases can have lymphopenia (abnormally low level of lymphocytes in the blood) and chest imaging that looks like pneumonia. In critical cases, patients may progress rapidly to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), septic shock, metabolic acidosis, coagulation dysfunction, and even death. Some groups, including older adults and people with certain underlying health conditions (like heart disease or respiratory disease, etc.), are at increased risk of severe illness. Studies show, once the virus infects the respiratory system, the SARS-CoV-2 spike proteins bind host cell ACE2 receptors, just like SARS-CoV, that enters the host cell inside an endosome, much like influenza. People are more likely to experience severe symptoms and have a higher risk of being fatal.

Testing: Rapid antigen tests (sometimes known as a rapid diagnostic test – RDT) detect viral proteins (antigens). Samples are collected from the nose and/or throat with a swab. These tests are cheaper than PCR (polymerase chain reaction or molecular photocopying) and will offer results more quickly, although they are generally less accurate. These tests perform best when there is more virus circulating in the community and when sampled from an individual during the time they are most infectious. Both isolation and quarantine are methods of preventing the spread of COVID-19 together with using mask and maintaining adequate social distance.

Quarantine means that anyone who was in contact of someone infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID-19, whether the infected person has symptoms or not, remain separated from others in a designated facility or at home. For COVID-19, this means staying in the facility or at home for 14 days.

Isolation means being separated from other people, ideally in a medical facility where you can receive clinical care, or if you are not in a high-risk group of developing severe disease, isolation can take place at home. If you have symptoms, you should remain in isolation for at least 10 days plus an additional 3 days without symptoms. If you are infected and do not develop symptoms, you should remain in isolation for 10 days from the time you test positive.

For now, the good news is that the United States has two Covid-19 vaccines that have been shown to be highly effective at preventing symptomatic Covid-19 infection, measured starting from seven days after the second dose was administered.

Longevity Secrets

Longevity Secrets
A Lovely Monday Morning to you all!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING

Do you know……… What began as a National Geographic expedition, lead by Dan Buettner, to uncover the secrets of longevity, evolved into the discovery of the 5 places around the world where people consistently live over 100 years old. These are: Okinawa (Japan), Sardinia (Italy), Nicoya (Costa Rica), Icaria (Greece), and Loma Linda (California USA).

In the golden age of technological and medical advancements, everyone is looking for that magical pill or diet or invention to increase their longevity. With life expectancy (the 85 plus population) on the rise, it is expected to triple to 14.6 million by 2040, in USA. We want to be mentally sharp and physically strong for as long as possible. Experts say our genes only account for about 20%-30% of our longevity. That means we can increase our health span which affect our aging about 70%-80% through good lifestyle; stay active/exercise, stay optimistic, practice kindness, maintain friendship, and stay connected for optimal physical and mental health. So, exactly which habits matter the most:

Healthy gut: Eat Resistant Starch (eg. Sweet potatoes), that feeds the friendly bacteria in our intestine and increases the production of short-chain fatty acids, butyrate. Consume Polyphenols (eg. Berries, red wine, olive oil, dark greens), spices (garlic, clove, turmeric, cinnamon, nutmeg), avoid lectins (toxic plant proteins in eggplants, tomatoes, bell pepper), nuts (they are rich in protein, fiber, antioxidants, and a great source of vitamins and minerals, such as copper, magnesium, potassium, folate, niacin)

Moderate, regular physical activity: walking, exercise

Moderate caloric intake

Plant based diet

Socialization, Engagement in Spirituality and Religion

Avoid Hormone Disruptors: pesticides, BPAs, phthalates, parabens in personal products

Put things in Perspective: slow down and prioritize, everything is not urgent and an emergency, listen to your body

Engagement in Family Life

Stress Reduction

Proper Sleep

Aromatherapy using Essential Oil: Essential Oils are natural, volatile, liquid, concentrated extracts taken from the roots, leaves, seeds, bark, or blossoms of plants. Should be diluted for a safe topical application following an expert advice and all safety rules. Longevity Essential Oils support antioxidants by attaching to free radicals, which minimizes the potential harmful effects and is important for youthful-looking skin. Essential oils also help with stress and sleep problems. Following essential oils could be used for longevity aid:

Frankincense, Orange, Clove, Thyme, Argon, Myrrh, Fennel, Carrot Seed, Rose

Alleviate Heel Pain with Aromatherapy

Alleviate Heel Pain with Aromatherapy
A Lovely Monday Morning to you all!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING

Do you know……. Heel pain can result from variety of conditions, like; Plantar Fasciitis, Haglund’s Deformity, Achilles tendonitis, etc.

Plantar Fasciitis

Our feet is the most neglected part of our body, while they deserve lot of pampering, because our feet carry our weight (light or heavy) day after day without any vacation except for the night time when most of us are in bed sleeping or if we are sick. We cram our feet into tight socks, gym shoes, and pinching high heels, or standing around chatting-working, or walking to class-work-to the car, or running to catch a train-bus, or exercising, etc., etc. Energetically the feet represent our connection with earth and rooting us to mother nature, the sense of being grounded.

Many people experience heel pain with first few steps in the morning due to Plantar fasciitis, an inflammation of the plantar fascia, which is a thick connective tissue running across the sole of the foot. Tenderness usually subsides with movement, however being in motion for too long and getting up from the chair can trigger discomfort once again. Overweight people or those being flat-footed or having a high arch or abnormal walking pattern or wearing ill-fitted footwear may face foot problems more.

Haglund’s deformity (pump bump) is a bony enlargement on the back of the heel near the Achilles tendon that becomes irritated when the bony enlargement rubs against shoes and often leads to painful bursitis between the tendon and bone. This condition is usually caused by wearing shoes that are too tight or stiff in the heel or pump-style high heels.

The Achilles tendon is a thick tendon located in the back of the leg attaches to the upper part of the heel. Inflammation of this tendon (generally seen in athletes or overactive people) causes swelling, soreness, and tightness.

Heel Pain

Inflammation is the root cause of many diseases including heel pain. Generally, people try to find the easiest solution to this problem by popping a painkiller, however synthetic analgesics have a list of side effects. Medical experts suggest, plantar fasciitis can be improved or reversed with simple foot stretches and leg exercises, heel lifts, icing that will increase the flexibility and strength of feet.

Our priority should be to restore the health of our feet. A great safe way to reduce tenderness, inflammation of feet, and improve blood circulation would be with Aromatherapy using Essential oils. Since centuries, Essential Oils have been utilized in cosmetics, fragrances, for healing, health remedies, and as an antiseptic. These Essential Oils are natural, volatile, liquid, concentrated extracts taken from the roots, leaves, seeds, bark, or blossoms of plants and should be diluted for a safe topical application following an expert advice and all safety rules. This does not mean that essential oils are proven cure for Plantar Fasciitis, but it is easy to understand potential benefits of essential oils and the powerful mind-body connection. If you find relief and calmness from using essential oils, feel free to continue using them. Best essential oils to relieve heel pain are: Lavender, Bergamot, Basil, Peppermint, Ginger, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Frankincense.

Friendly Ergonomic Home Office

Friendly Ergonomic Home Office
A Lovely Monday Morning to you all!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING.

Do you know……… A recent study found that in U.S.A., at least 1 in 4 people are working from home and have children learning from home due to Covid-19 outbreak. As remote work and distance learning has become a new norm, it is important to set up an

             Healthy Home Office

ergonomically friendly, healthy home office for optimum efficiency. Productivity is the foundation of a successful workday. Therefore, people should get away from the couch or bed and set up an affordable workstation at a desk or table as well as proper study area for children to avoid aches, pains, carpal tunnel syndrome, eyes strain, neck sprain, and leg cramps. According to occupational therapists and physical therapists, following are the important steps to protect health from the dangers of sitting in wrong posture or sitting too long at a desk:

Chair: Finding a chair that has good lumbar support, adjustable height and adjustable armrests. Can use a small pillow or a rolled up towel placed between the lower back and chair for necessary lumbar support. Chair should be set so feet is flat on the floor with hips and knees at a 90-degree angle. For younger children or if the user’s feet do not reach the floor, a footrest or a footstool can be used.

Computer screen: Should be aligned properly with the screen. Ideally, screen should be an arm’s length away with the top of the screen at or slightly below eye level, so not constantly looking down at it.

Desk or table: Desk or table should be tall enough so to have clearance for legs and knees. Adjust chair height so arms can rest comfortably on top of the table. An adjustable sit-to-stand desk could be a good option as standing helps take pressure off spine and can help prevent strain on back.

Keyboard: Keep keyboard and mouse close by so you don’t have to stretch your arms too far for them. When using your keyboard, keep your wrists straight and your elbows slightly bent.

Taking break: Try taking a break every hour or so. Get up from chair and take a quick walk or do some quick spot exercises to increase blood circulation, avoid leg cramps. While sitting in your chair, try some shoulder rolls, deep breathing.

Staring at a screen can leave eyes feeling tired or dry. Focus on a distant object to help eye muscles relax every 20 minutes. Adjust computer settings; brightness, background color, and font size can also help make time in front of the screen easier on eyes.

Phone: If using a phone, try to install a head set or use speaker phone function if possible.

Aromatherapy: Incorporate aromatherapy using essential oils to reduce the stress and uplift mood together with increased concentration, freshness, and therapeutic benefits.

Uplifting, Gp-to Freshness Blend:

          Essential Oil Uplifting Blend

15 drops Spearmint or Peppermint Essential oil

15 drops Grapefruit Essential oil

10 drops Bergamot Essential oil

8 drops Rosemary Essential Oil

Essential Oil for Frostbite

DIY Essential Oil Blend for Frostbite
A Lovely Monday Morning to you all!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING.

Do you know…… Frostbite causes the skin to become cold, pale, and numb from poor circulation after exposure to the cold. People living in colder climate where temperature drops beyond zero degrees or when people are engaged in winter sports activities, or mountaineering could get frostbite. Frostbite occurs as result of lengthy exposure of skin to extreme cold (freezing) that damages the blood vessels and tissues due to poor blood circulation. This commonly affects extremities (fingers, toes), nose, ears, where extreme cold alters blood circulation and causes burning or itching sensation, hardening, numbness, purplish-red skin, swelling, pain, and sometimes resulting in gangrene. Children and elderly suffering from bad blood circulation or by the Raynaud’s disease, are most susceptible to the effects of cold.

Frostbite occurs in several stages. The signs and symptoms of frostbite depend on the extent and depth of tissue injury:

Frostbite Stages

Frostnip: is a mild form of frostbite leads to numbness in the affected area, may feel pain and tingling. Frostnip does not permanently damage the skin.

Superficial frostbite: appears as reddened skin that turns white or pale. Skin may begin to feel warm, a sign of serious skin involvement. If treat frostbite with rewarming at this stage, the surface of skin may appear mottled. May notice stinging-burning and swelling. A fluid-filled blister may appear 12 to 36 hours after rewarming the skin.

Deep (severe) frostbite: advanced frostbite exposure affects all layers of the skin, including the underlying tissues. Skin turns white or bluish gray, may experience numbness, losing all sensation of cold, pain or discomfort in the affected area. Joints or muscles may no longer work. Large blisters from 24 to 48 hours after rewarming. Later the affected area turns black and hard as the tissue dies, subsequently Gangrene can develop, placing the individual at high-risk for infection and may also necessitate amputation.

Mild to medium frostbite can be treated quite easily and may take 5-10 days to heal completely. However, severe frostbite, hypothermia (a condition in which body loses heat faster than it can be produced) needs immediate emergency medical attention. Signs and symptoms of hypothermia include: intense shivering, slurred speech, drowsiness and loss of coordination. While waiting for emergency medical help or a doctor’s appointment, take appropriate self-care measures of protecting the affected area from further cold, not walking on frostbitten feet.

There are many natural cures together with aromatherapy (use of essential oils) for mild to medium frostbite to help warm up and soothe pain from the cold:

First and foremost, wear appropriate clothing in severe weather to stay warm; thick wool socks, gloves with liners, heavy or down jacket, scarf, hat, etc
Dehydration is a result as well as a contributory factor to frostbite. Replenish body fluids and restore the salt and sugar balance by drinking plenty of fluids.
Almonds, soak 5-6 almonds overnight, in the morning grind with Aloe Vera to make a paste and apply on affected areas. Almonds are rich in Vitamin E which our body requires for repairing and growing new tissue.
Ginger, fresh Ginger regulates healthy blood circulation and help the blood in reaching the peripheral parts of the body. Prepare some fresh ginger tea and drink warm with honey or can consume some crushed fresh ginger with honey. Honey is also an anti-bacterial and will prevent from infection.

Essential Oils, are aromatic, volatile, therapeutic, liquid concentrate, extracted and distilled from the leaves, stems, flowers, bark, roots, and/or other parts of a plant. Essential Oils can be inhaled, or applied topically with proper dilution on wrist, neck, temple, or can be used in diffuser. For frostbite can use: Pine, Cypress. Lavender, Tea tree, Clove, Thyme, Frankincense Essential oils
Soothing Frostbite Essential Oil Blend
4 drops Lavender Essential oil
4 drops Cypress Essential Oil
2 drops Geranium Essential oil
4 drops Vit E
5 ml Olive Oil or Jojoba Oil or Grape Seed Carrier Oil
Add essential oils in a 5ml dark Euro Glass vial, fill with carrier oil, mix well, close, and label. When get that aching cold frostbite from being outside, immediately go inside, apply 5-6 drops of essential oil blend to the affected area, rubbing very gently without damaging the tissue any further and restoring the circulation. Apply 2-3x daily until the pain and redness subsides. Seek medical help.

Self-Protection and Healing

Self-Protection and Healing
A Lovely Monday Morning to you all!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING.

Do you know………. No one can fool you and take advantage of your innocence, your emotions, until you consciously or subconsciously allow them to enter in your aura.

Self Healing

Unfortunately, you realize your mistake after your entire life turns upside down. In the beginning, it seems difficult, heart wrenching, you feel betrayed, worthless, exhausted, and hatred towards that individual, but do not give in, it is never too late. You gather the courage and spring back on your two feet. You must be thinking, it is easier said than done, but I am telling you this from my own experience.

Before they could inflict any more damage and could invade your mind and aura, you put a protective shield of non-reaction around you to let their negative energy bounce back. Do not forget, if you interact with them, you are giving them permission to mess up with your inner self. That is why you emit love and positive energy towards them. Yes, you read it right, you do emit unconditional love and positive energy so that their negative energy cannot penetrate and get absorbed within you. You learn to ignore and guard your inner consciousness using your divine intelligence. If you dwell in negative thoughts, you will be negative and if you dwell in positive thoughts, you will have positive energies. Energy body is the blueprint that the physical body follows. For healing, align your inner world and outer world. Do not only focus on self, because if you want to heal yourself, you will have to be the instrument to heal others too. You can attain peace and healing by:

  • Loving yourself and being compassionate towards others
  • Daily Meditation
  • Practicing Chakra Sadhana, especially Solar Plexus and Heart Chakra
  • Spiritual healing: is not linked to a particular religion. It is not faith healing. The word ‘spiritual’ originated from the Latin word ‘spiritus’ meaning ‘breath of life’. The healing involves the transfer of energy; in other words, it is not from the healer him or herself, but the healer links with ‘Universal’ or Divine energy to channel healing for the mind, body and spirit.
  • Since centuries, Essential oils have been traditionally used for medicinal and spiritual health purposes. Extracted from plants, essential oils bring the healing properties of mother nature right to us. When essential oils are diffused or inhaled, compounds are absorbed through nose receptors which send messages through Olfactory system, to the Limbic system, part of the brain responsible for our emotions, our feelings. When essential oils are applied topically for cosmetic reasons or to treat aches, pains, and inflammation, the compounds are absorbed into the skin and eventually enter the bloodstream before they’re metabolized by the liver. Following essential oils can be used to heal mind, body, and soul: Lavender, Chamomile, Sandalwood, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Bergamot, Geranium, Frankincense, Oregano, Lemon, Peppermint, Rosemary.

Essential Oils for Sinus Congestion

Essential Oils for Sinus Congestion
A Lovely Monday Morning to you all!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING.

Do you know……..We have four pairs of hollow, air-filled cavities called sinuses, lined with soft, pink tissues called Mucosa. They are located over the eyes in the forehead called Frontal Sinuses, between the eyes called Ethmoid Sinuses, below the eyes behind the cheek bones called Maxillary Sinuses (is the largest), and near the center behind the nose called Sphenoid Sinuses. A thin wall, called the Septum, divides the nose. Most of the sinuses drain into the throat where it is swallowed or  into the nose through a small channel or drainage pathway (middle meatus). Experts still don’t know what is the exact function of these sinuses? One theory is that they help humidify and warm the air we breathe in, another is that they allow our voices to resonate and enhance our voices.

At one point or other, we all have suffered from Sinus infection or Sinusitis, which is not a pleasant experience. Sinusitis is inflammation of the sinus tissue lining within the passages of the nose that can be caused by infection, allergies, and chemical or particulate irritation of the sinuses. This results into inflammation mucus build-up, runny nose, post nasal drip, congestion, pain, cough, sinus headache, fever, and fatigue. Sinus conditions:

Acute Sinusitis (sinus infection): Viruses, bacteria, or fungi infect the sinus cavity, causing inflammation. Common symptoms are; more mucus; nasal congestion; discomfort in the cheeks, forehead, or around the eyes, and headaches. It lasts for a short time, defined by the American Academy of Otolaryngology as less than four weeks and is usually a part of a cold or other respiratory illness..

Chronic Sinusitis (chronic rhinosinusitis): Chronic sinusitis occurs when the spaces inside nose and head (sinuses) are swollen and inflamed for three months or longer, despite treatment. It is more than just a series of infections, chronic sinusitis is a persistent process, mucus normally drains making nose stuffy and breathing through nose may be difficult, area around your eyes might feel swollen or tender.

Deviated Septum: If the septum that divides the nose is too far to one side, it can obstruct airflow in a nostril.

Hay fever (allergic rhinitis): Allergens like pollen, dust mites, and pet dander cause sinuses to overreact that results into mucus, nasal stuffiness, sneezing, and itching.

Nasal Polyps: Are small growths in the nasal cavity. They can happen due to inflammation from asthma, chronic sinus infections, and nasal allergies (such as hay fever).

The majority of sinus infections are result of cold or virus or bacteria, and Antibiotic, Decongestants, Nasal Steroid Spray, or Sinus surgery are a very common conventional treatments. Instead of running to the store or the doctor for an answer to your sinus problems, first try to heal sinus infections with Aromatherapy using essential oils and other natural ways. Essential oils are natural, concentrated, volatile, liquid extracts of different parts of plants with individual therapeutic properties. Essential oils have been used for centuries as a natural way to support mental, emotional and physical health. Can try these natural alternative, holistic treatments:

Aromatherapy for Sinus   Infection

  • Drink lots of water to stay hydrated and avoid consuming dairy, alcohol.
  • Irrigate sinuses using a Neti-Pot with saline nasal water
  • Use a diffuser with water and essential oils (Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Clary sage, or Lavender essential oils in any combination)
  • Rub pressure points with a mix of essential oils(2drops each of Eucalyptus, Tea Tree and Peppermint Essential Oils in a carrier oil, like Almond or Grape seed Oil); side of each nostril, under the nose in the midline, on the temples, across the forehead.
  • Direct inhalation of essential oils; right from the bottle or add 2-3 drops of oils to a handkerchief, cotton ball, or inhaler tube, and breathe in as needed.
  • Steam Inhalation: is a very effective way to relieve stuffy nose. Boil 2-3 cups tap water and pour into a heat-proof bowl. Add 4-6 drops of essential oils (2 drops each of Eucalyptus, Tea Tree and 1 drop Peppermint Essential Oils) and stir. Cover the back of your head with a towel, carefully lean over the bowl, and breathe in the steam through your nose and mouth as long as the steam is rising (for 2-4 minutes). Keep your eyes closed to prevent eye irritation. Repeat this once or twice a day for 2-3 days or as needed. (Instead of essential oils, can also use herbs: like 1 teaspoons of oregano and 1 teaspoons of basil).

Depression in Teens

Depression in Teens
A Lovely Monday Morning to you all!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING.

Do you know……Depression affects adults of all ages as well as children and teens from all ethnic, racial background. It is normal to feel depressed, sad, irritated, or restless once in a while, but if feeling sad or empty all the time for at

                      Depression in Teens

least two weeks in a row, is the matter of concern. It could cause noticeable problems in day-to-day activities. It’s not easy to notice changes in yourself, but usually your family, friends, and/or a counsellor would notice a change in you. The most important thing to keep in mind that it is not your fault if you become depressed.

What is depression? Depression is a psychological condition that affects our feelings, behaviours, thoughts, and loss of interest. Depression is among the most treatable of mental disorders. With proper diagnosis, 80% to 90 % of people with depression respond well to treatment. It’s important not to confuse depression with sadness or grief-bereavement.

Depression symptoms in children, teens (and adults) can vary from mild to severe which could be:

sadness, irritability, clinginess, worry, aches – pains, refusing to go to school, being underweight, feeling hopeless and worthless, anger, poor performance at school, feeling misunderstood and extremely sensitive, using recreational drugs or alcohol, sleeping too much, frequent or recurrent suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts, self-harm, loss of interest in normal activities, avoidance of social interaction, and reduced appetite – weight loss or increased cravings for food – weight gain.

Several factors could be the cause of depression:

Biochemistry: Differences in certain chemicals in the brain may contribute to symptoms of depression

Genetics: Depression can run in families

Personality: Children with low self-esteem appear to be more likely to experience depression.

Environmental factors: Continuous exposure to violence, neglect, physical or sexual abuse, or poverty may make children and teens more vulnerable to depression.

If you have a child or teen who is in danger of suicide (or has made a suicide attempt), make sure someone stays with him/her. Parents or children and teens should try to reach out to a close friend or loved one or contact a minister or spiritual leader in your faith or try to have family therapy. For mild symptoms, psychotherapy, or “talk therapy,” is sometimes used alone for, but for moderate to severe depression, psychotherapy is often used with antidepressant medications. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) has been found to be effective in treating depression. We know that synthetic medications and psychotropic drugs often have many negative side effects.

Aromatherapy is a holistic treatment method that has been used for emotional and physical ailments since centuries. Essential oils are natural, volatile, liquid extract of different parts of plants with therapeutic properties. Essential oils are either inhaled or applied topically in conjunction with conventional mental health treatment to promote mental wellbeing, boost mood, and ease physical discomfort. Following essential oils could be used with caution to alleviate depression:

Lavender, Frankincense, Bergamot, Orange, Grapefruit, Roman Chamomile, Geranium, Ylang ylang, Vetiver

Massage Blend to Relieve Depression:

6 drops Frankincense Essential Oil

4 drops Geranium Essential Oil

Drop essential oils in a 2 oz. glass jar, add carrier oil, cover, label, mix well. Massage daily on wrist, back of neck and bottom of feet for couple of weeks, break for a week, then restart. Consult a trained Aromatherapist and your medical provider to discuss the effect and the progress.

Attracting Positivity in Life

Attracting Positivity in Life
A Lovely Monday Morning to you all!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING.

Do you know……..Love is the highest frequency that human being can emit and is the greatest power known to the mankind. Many religions have flourished and perished claiming the true path to love.

                        Attracting Positivity

To find a perfect selfless eternal love, we have to seek love with the creator of the universe. In present world crises of Covid-19 and many other disturbances, we can create and spread the real feeling of love with positive thinking if we choose to, because the potential lies within us. Feeling is desire, desire is love, and love generates positive vibration. Harold W. Becker in his book, ‘Unconditional Love – An Unlimited Way of Being’, developed unconventional, contemporary definition for unconditional love, “Life through unconditional love, is a wondrous adventure that excites the very core of our being and lights our path with delight.”

Have you ever experienced that sometimes what you think or want to have, it happens suddenly and you wonder how incredible it is? Lately, every couple of months to retrain my thought process, I have been trying to listen to the audio of ‘The Secret’, by Rhonda Byrne, and every time I am intrigued with the law of attraction. She explains the law that governs our lives and how to create intentionally and effortlessly a joyful life. We put our thoughts into action through the law of attraction upon which the entire creation depends. Studies revealed that we process approximately sixty thousands thoughts per day which is driven by our feelings and our emotions. We know, like attracts like, so if we are unhappy about something; our health, or bad relation, or strenuous job, or circumstantial upheaval, etc. and think about it all the time, then it seems to get worst with every passing day. Instead of letting bad, negative thoughts ruin our lives, why don’t we spend our valuable time in attracting positive, happy thoughts to heal from chronic pain, to manifest happiness, to establish love, peace, and harmony. Therefore, it’s essential that we don’t let our critical inner voice slip into our thoughts without our knowledge and mess up our thinking patterns.

Aroma of Essential oils has the power to deviate us from our usual thought pattern and help dispel negativity. Essential Oils are natural, volatile, concentrated, liquid plant extracts with individual therapeutic properties and have been used since ancient times to cure different ailments. A sense of smell is one of the five senses and a powerful connector between people and the world around them. Suggested oils that are uplifting and help people feel happy include;
