Paramahansa), more than a hundred years ago and is rapidly getting integrated into our public education, health care, and the workplace. Yoga is not a religion it is a spiritual and ascetic discipline, a philosophy which originated in ancient India about 5000 years ago. It helps improve the flow of energy (Prana) in body and.is an excellent energizing, relaxation technique that promotes physical and mental calm. Here are some practical benefits of Yoga that people may experience:

Increased flexibility and balance

Improved muscle strength and tone

Reduced joint pain, relaxation, and better sleep

Increased stamina and body awareness

Reduced stress, tension and apprehension

Alleviates Ability to heal physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually

One out of three elderly people of age 65 and over, is likely to fall in their lifetime. As we age, our muscle strength starts to diminish. Older people are prone to falling due to unsteadiness that increases the risk of falling and fracturing hips, legs, arms, and/or any other body part. If we lose our balance, quality of life changes due to fear of falling and anxiety starts to replace our confidence followed by many other health issues, like; high blood pressure, increase weight gain, aches-pains, stress, insomnia, etc.

To make body resilient, strong to walk, to get out of chair, increase muscle tone, to increase endurance, and calm the mind, regular practice of yoga and proper breathing technique is very important. Maintaining balance of our body is the key to our aging seniors as well as our younger generation too. We can use props, chairs or whatever helps to safely perform yoga. Yoga keeps us young and very beneficial for our overall healthy life. We can say that doing yoga on a regular basis is like long term investment for our longevity and a better physical, mental state.

Essential Oils together with Yoga facilitate healing benefits. Aromatherapy and yoga are both ancient healing practices focused on physical, mental, and spiritual health. Aromatherapy is the art and science of using Essential Oils which are natural, volatile, concentrated extract of different parts of plants. Essential Oils are incorporated to enhance the practice of Yoga for their emotional and physical benefits. Based on their therapeutic properties, Essential Oils can be used in a diffuser, or by mixing several drops with water in a spray bottle. Some of the popular Essential Oils used during Yoga are:

Essential Oil Dilution Made Easy

Essential Oil Dilution Made Easy
A Lovely  Monday Morning to you all!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING.

Do you know……..Knowledge of Essential Oil dilution is crucial for the safe practice of Aromatherapy to prevent adverse reactions. Essential Oils are natural, volatile, liquid, concentrated extracts taken from the roots, leaves, seeds, bark, or blossoms of plants. Essential oils have been used for centuries as healing agent, fragrance for promoting health and relaxation, as well as an antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and an antiseptic agent. They are highly concentrated and should be diluted for a safe topical application.

The most effective way to dilute essential oils and to facilitate the absorption of essential oils is in a high quality cold pressed carrier oils from plant nuts, seeds and kernels, like; Almond, Apricot, Olive, Kukui, Wheat germ, Grape seed, and Sesame, etc. They consist mainly of a balance of antioxidant unsaturated fatty acids (unrefined oil, with nutty aroma, thin absorbent texture) and more emollient saturated fatty acids (have a neutral aroma

and a thicker, less absorbent texture). It should be stored away from heat and light to ensure their freshness.

Blending essential oils to achieve a desired aroma is fun and tricky, but can be achieved with basic understanding of essential oils and carrier oils. For lotions, creams, serums, can make up to 2% dilution as it’s applied frequently in quantity for moisturizing, soothing, while for perfume formulation, can use dilution up to 5% as it’s applied sparingly for fragrance only. Essential oils are made up of different aromatic compounds, which evaporate at different rates (notes); Top Note evaporates quickly, Middle Note contains diffusive aroma and serves to bridge top and base notes in a blend, Base Note evaporates very slowly, so the aroma lasts longer. We should try to create blends that have a harmonious balance of all three notes for aroma and therapeutic value. Here is the simple guideline for ease of dilution:

Approximate Conversion Table

Dilutions are typically 2% – 10%. For adults, a 2.5% dilution is recommended and For children under 12, 1% is generally safe.

Measurements/conversions (by volume)

30 ml = 1 fl oz = 600 drops = 2 Tbsp = 6 tsp
15 ml = 1/2 fl oz = 300 drops = 1 Tbsp
5 ml = 1/6 fl oz = 100 drops = 1 tsp
1 ml = 1/30 fl oz = 20 drops = 1/5 tsp

For 1 oz (30 ml, 600 drops) of Carrier Oil:

1% blend = 6 drops of essential oil per oz of carrier oil (1% of 600 drops (1 fl oz) = 6 drops)
2% blend = 12 drops of essential oil per oz of carrier oil (2% of 600 drops (1 fl oz) = 12 drops)
2.5% blend = 15 drops of essential oil per oz of carrier oil (2.5% of 600 drops (1 fl oz) = 15 drops)
3% blend = 18 drops of essential oil per oz of carrier oil (3% of 600 drops (1 fl oz) = 18 drops)
5% blend = 30 drops of essential oil per oz of carrier oil (5% of 600 drops (1 fl oz) = 30 drops)
10% blend = 60 drops of essential oil per oz of carrier oil (10% of 600 drops (1 fl oz) = 60 drops)

Relationship Bonding

Relationship Bonding
A Lovely  Monday Morning to you all!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING.

Do you know…….Human beings are born with the inherent quality to love, to be loved, to long for connection, and to be a part of the community. Human relationship is the most rewarding, emotionally gratifying,

                  Relationship Bonding

as well as most hurtful, distressing fact of life. When we talk about relationship, generally the conjugal relation pops up first in our heads, but there are many other relationships like; with parents, with siblings, with children, with friends, with co-workers, with neighbours, etc. Sometimes, a friendly relationship could start even with a stranger if we have things in common and have a similar chemistry, while it takes long to develop an authentic loving relationship with our own family.

In adverse situations, it’s easy to blame and hold on to the pain, trauma. Often times, people who you trust the most are the ones who shatter your life and cause irreversible damage with their lies, excuses, without feeling any accountability. Heartbreaks and relational damages are very difficult to mend and leave a deep scar. It could trigger pain, anger, stress, anxiety, hopelessness, sadness, loss of sleep and appetite, even the will to live. Therefore, sooner the better, if we realize that such people are not worth crying for. It’s better to forget the past as a bad dream and move forward. During such time, we should believe and remind ourselves that the most beautiful, precious relationship we have in this life, is with ourselves and with the Almighty.

Important attributes to value, to maintain, and to respect any relationship, are:

Willingness to connect and value the relationship

Friendliness and understanding other’s views

Trustworthy and have open, effective communication

Like and respect each other

Provide sincere support

Look for joint contribution instead of blame

Authenticity and commitment

Managing Anger Diligently

Managing Anger Diligently
A Lovely  Monday Morning to you all!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING.

Do you know…..Anger is an intense emotion and often difficult to control. I was listening to a talk on Anger Management on YouTube, where the speaker said, if we put d in front of ‘anger’, it becomes ‘danger’. Therefore, think before speaking in anger, so don’t have to regret later. There is a famous phrase, Words spoken and Arrow shot from a Bow, never comes back.

“We’re not punished for the anger, but punished by the anger.” …..Buddha

Anger management is an elaborate subject that can’t be covered here in its entirety. In short, at a time, anger could be used constructively for self- reformation, to curb the evil, or to discipline (carefully without causing any harm or hurt to others), but most of the time, anger is destructive and causes aggression, problems at work, in personal relationships, in day to day life, and many more. Uncontrolled and unexpressed anger could result in chronic conditions. We are not taught to channel anger constructively and researchers studied that typically people who are easily angered, come from families that are disruptive, chaotic, not skilled at emotional communications, and don’t know how to resolve the situation.

There are two types of anger; Explosive Anger: is like spitting volcano from the mouth, which is not a good quality to possess and, Implosive Anger: where the person acts calm from outside, but bubbling from inside. They withdraw themselves from their surroundings, are grumpy, irritable, and could explode anywhere anytime, could get violent too. Generally, people who explode with exasperation are:

Control Freaks

Perfectionist

With High Expectations

Contemplate on Negative Emotions

Full of false Ego

To diffuse the feeling of anger:

Investigate the reason of anger

Learn to Forgive and see the entire picture before reaching to a conclusion

Relaxation with deep breathing, yoga, meditation, and relaxing imagery

Better communication to avoid misconception

Practice regular exercise to alleviate stress

Take time out of the busy schedule to calm the overactive mind

Avoid arguments

Learn to love yourself and accept others as they are

Practice spirituality

Together with above mentioned life style changes, use of Essential Oils through direct inhalation or use in a diffuser, can help with calming down anger. These are: Lavender, Petitgrain,  Roman Chamomile, Vitiver, Bergamot, Ginger, Patchouli, Geranium, Ylang ylang, Myrrh, etc.

Managing Time with Compassion

Managing Time with Compassion
A Lovely  Monday Morning to you all!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING.

Do you know……..We all have 24 hours in a day. Of which, approximately 6-8 hours we spent resting-sleeping, 8-12 hours working-job-business, 2 hours for food and miscellaneous activities, then we are left with 2 hours. Now, how do we utilize this precious 2 hours, is our personal choice? There is no one right way to live our life, but it will be wise to invest it for our betterment. We should look within and dream big (without getting psyched), being aware of our abilities and execute our desires.

Managing Time with Compassion

What brings us joy may be the right approach as long as it is constructive and not causing any harm to anyone or to self.

Nowadays in the midst of global COVID-19 pandemic, where things are out of our control and people are scared of the uncertainty, we should try to give people a little hope. It’s not only taking a heavy toll on the economy, but taking toll on emotional health of adults, seniors, as well as our teenagers are experiencing the same devastating impact of Corona virus. Even if people are staying at home or being quarantined, they should realize that it’s for our own safety and we all are in it together. We are desperate to get back to normal, but we have to follow the protective measures of wearing face-mask and social distancing.

So, to make the best of 2 hours from 24 hours a day and to maintain physical-mental health, to avoid stress, to boost our immune system, one should conscientiously practice to:

  • Get daily exercise
  • Follow a regular sleep pattern for a better good night sleep
  • Take breaks to unwind and take help from family-friends
  • Be compassionate towards others and to oneself
  • Consume healthy food
  • Do yoga and meditation to calm the mind
  • Take Aromatherapy massage and/or bath using Essential oils to manage stress

Essential Oils are natural, volatile, concentrated, liquid plant extracts with different therapeutic properties and have been used since ancient times to cure various ailments.
