Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) essential oil belongs to Apiaceae or Umbelliferae (parsley) botanical family.  Because of its licorice aroma, it is often called “licorice plant.”

Extraction:
The oil is obtained by steam distilling the crushed seeds to get a highly aromatic essential oil. Fennel essential oil has a sweet, earthy, anise-like aroma that is energizing, vitalizing, and balancing.

Major Constituents:
Monoterpenes; pinene, limonene, Monoterpenols: fenchol, Phenols: methyl chavicol, Aldehydes, Ketones, camphor, Oxides: 1.9 cineaol, Coumarins, furocoumarins.
