Days Associated with our Chakras

Do you know……… According to traditional Indian medicine and Vedic scriptures, there are 72,000 Nadis in human body. The Nadis refer to the network of channels through which the Prana (energies of the Subtle Body) said to flow. For a healthy body and mind it is important that prana flows in the body freely. When there is blockage or

hinderance in the flow of prana, it messes up the whole system (creates Vyadhi). Out of all Nadis, 3 of them have special importance – IDA (terminates in the LEFT nostril, is cooling, feminine, calming, and have lunar energy), PINGALA (terminates in the RIGHT nostril, is heating, masculine, energizing, and have solar energy), and SUSHUMNA (is the central channel that runs vertically from the base of the spine to the top of the head).

Ida and Pingala Nadis cross along the central Sushumna Nadi. The points of intersection of these 3 Nadis, makes a whirlpool of energy along the spine, called Chakras. We and everything around us is made up of energy. The energy rises from the base of the spine to the crown of the body. The 7 main chakras, which are part of the human subtle energy system, ultimately keep us aligned. Misaligned and unbalanced chakras can lead to a variety of physical, mental and spiritual ailments, dysfunctions as do each of the vital organs connected to the out-of-balance chakras. Each one of the 7 chakra energy centers of the body are associated with a particular day of the week based upon the energetic similarities between the two and the associated planetary energies that they share:

Muladhara (Root) Chakra: is the first chakra at the base of the energy system and keeps us connected to the earth energy. The Root chakra is our connection to the physical plane and relates to our sense of stability and security on the earth.

Saturday is the Root chakra day, known as “Saturns Day” for its association with the planet Saturn, also named after the Roman God ‘Saturn’, or ‘Cronus’, the equivalent in Greek Mythology. Saturn is known as the Planet of ‘Karma’ and ‘Time’ and represents energy, vigor, protection, and self-discipline.

Swadisthana (Sacral) Chakra: Located just below the navel and governs the reproductive glands. Considered the gate chakra for all fluidity.

The Sacral chakra is associated with the day Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Monday, also known as “The Day of the Moon”. The Moon, like the Sacral chakra connects us to our emotions and fertility as well. Also, we associate the feminine aspect, much like moon with its cycles and seasons.

Manipura (Solar Plexus) Chakra: Located in the solar plexus area between the navel and sternum. To foster positive energy for personal transformation and to keep belly fire at a control. Till here all the Chakras are found in other species also.

Tuesday is the Solar Plexus chakra day and is sometimes connected with Sunday because of its representation with the related energies of the Solar Sun. Tuesday is the day of Mars. It represents willpower, determination, Strength, courage, competition, and effectiveness.

Anahata (Heart) chakra: Located in the middle of the chest. Promote peace and harmony between our physical and spiritual worlds.

Heart chakra is associated with the day of Wednesday, known as the “Day of Mercury”, the planet of interrelated communication. It is also associated with the day of Friday, the “Day of Venus” (which is named for the goddess of love and beauty, the equivalent of Venus in the Greek language is, Aphrodite) because of the compassionate associations with the Heart and the day of Thursday, is the day of planet Jupiter. He is the lord of information, wisdom, and knowledge.

Vishuddhi (Throat) chakra: Located in the throat area. To purify your being and keep your emotional self-balanced.

Wednesday, which is associated with Mercury, the closest planet to the Sun and the planet of communication and travel. Thursday is the day for Throat chakra.

Thursday named after the Norse God “Thor”, and is governed by the Planet Jupiter which is for prosperity, expansion, better communication, and also relates to travel.

Ajna (Third Eye) chakra: Located on the forehead between the eyebrows. It keeps emotional self-balanced, and is connected to the inner senses, i.e. spiritual vision or the minds eye,  intuition, insight, as well as higher knowledge/intellect, spiritual wisdom.

The Ajna Chakra is associated with the days Thursday and Friday, and also Monday for its Lunar association. The day of Venus or Friday brings spiritual powers and Thursday, the day of planet Jupiter which is the planet of expansion, higher wisdom, and travel.

Sahasrara (Crown) chakra: Located at the top of the head, funneling upwards to connect with our higher self. People who attain enlightenment are represented with the halo. This is the ultimate state to attain.

The Crown chakra is often associated with the day of Sunday, because of the connection to the “Sun”. The Sun, is a powerful force in our world because it is the source of heat and light, which is required energy for our food growth. Physically, without the sun there won’t be any life, so in relation to the Crown Chakra, the Sun also represents enlightenment, or the ultimate of higher consciousness.
