A Lovely Monday Morning to You All!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING

Do you know………. about a month back, I felt some inflammation and pain around back of my upper teeth gum. Being a Clinical Aromatherapist, I immediately thought of Clove Essential Oil. What I did, in a 5ml glass vial, I combined 2 drops of Clove Essential Oil with 1tsp of Olive Oil, mixed well, labeled. Applied 3-4 drops of this Clove oil blend on a swab tip and gently swiped the affected area being careful not to touch the swab to other parts of the mouth or lips as Clove oil is a hot, potent oil. Repeated this twice a day for couple of days. By second day, I was very happy to notice significant reduction in pain and swelling. So, continued this treatment for another 2-3 days and my pain and swelling disappeared completely. Of course, if it wouldn’t have helped in first 2 days, I would have contacted my Dentist.

Do you know………… Our human body is designed to process toxins naturally. At physical level 3% toxin gets cleared through daily bowel movement, 7% gets cleared through urination, 20% gets cleared through perspiration, and the remaining 70% detoxification is done through breathing process. Unfortunately, since the 20th century, we have been increasingly getting exposed to new toxins from denatured foods and drinks, regular use of intoxicants such as alcohol and marijuana, cigarettes, pesticides, herbicides, petroleum by-products, air and water

pollutants. The main reason of our sickness is the constant accumulation of daily toxins from the consumption-exposure to the physical and emotional negative psychic impressions, and environmental pollutants.

Therefore, it is very important to do total detoxification at physical, emotional, and spiritual level with self-realization by practicing; Yoga, Meditation, Deep breathing, Exercising, Walking-Jogging, doing Charity, and adding Aromatherapy to your daily routine. Aromatherapy is the art and science of using Essential Oils for different ailments since centuries. Essential Oils possess therapeutic properties and are natural, volatile, concentrated, liquid extracts from different parts of plants. Essential oils work on many levels as physical toxins are removed, negative thoughts and emotions are also released. According to a NAHA blog, when it comes to eliminating toxins, the rule is: Reduce, Relax, Refresh and Relish! Some detoxifying Essential Oils:

  1. Lemon: oil stimulates white blood cells to defend the body against infection, aid in clarity to the mind. Detoxifies through the blood and liver.
  2. Lavender: oil is calming, tonic for the nerves, great for sleep
  3. Grapefruit: oil is antiviral, antiseptic, diuretic, reviving, uplifting, disperse negative energy, supporting the body in decreasing

    unwanted mucus during detoxification.

  4. Peppermint: oil for cleansing the lymphatic system, a sluggish digestion, support the gallbladder, and decreases inflammation.
  5. Oregano: powerful anti-bacterial oil, high in antioxidants.
  6. Ginger: often used for digestion, motion sickness and nausea.
  7. Juniper: helps the body to throw off toxic wastes, improves elimination and supports liver function. Detoxifies through the kidneys, skin and urinary tract.
  8. Fennel: helps with nausea, digestion, flatulence. Detoxifies through the skin, kidneys and the digestive tract.
  9. Bergamot: creates a sense of well-being, relaxation, and regulates craving

Aromatherapy for Aching Feet

Aromatherapy for Aching Feet
A Lovely Monday Morning to You All!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING

Do you know……. Our feet is the most neglected part of our body, while they deserve lot of pampering. Because, our feet carry our weight (light or heavy) day after day without any vacation except for the night time when most of us are in bed sleeping or if we are sick.

           Aromatherapy Foot Scrub

We cram our feet into tight socks, gym shoes, and pinching high heels, or standing around chatting-working, or walking to class-work-to the car, or running to catch a train-bus, or exercising, etc., etc. Energetically the feet represent our connection with earth and rooting us to Mother Nature, the sense of being grounded.

There are 26 bones in each foot and there are over 7,000 nerve endings called reflexes that correspond to every organ and system within our body. By pressing on these reflex points, we can stimulate the nervous system and open energy pathways that may be blocked or congested. That’s why when we walk bare feet on fine sand or soft grass, we get the mesmerizing euphoric feel.

We should not wait to take care of our feet only when it starts to hurt, rather give it a tender loving care (TLC) at regular interval with reflexology, footbath and foot massage with Essential oil, that can reduce pain, stress, dryness, and can have calming effect. Essential Oils are natural, volatile, concentrated, liquid extract of plants with amazing individual therapeutic properties and have been used since centuries to cure different ailments. Especially, people with diabetes can have more damaged nerve endings. Here is couple of my Essential Oil blends that you could make at home and enjoy the affordable spa like treatment.

Relaxing Sugar Pedi Scrub:

¼ cup fine white sugar

                      Foot Scrub

¼ cup brown sugar

½ cup Olive oil (can use Almond Carrier Oil)

15 drs Lavender Essential Oil (for winter can use Cinnamon E. Oil)

15 drs Lemon Essential Oil

10 drs Peppermint Essential Oil

8 drs Geranium Essential Oil (can use Ylang ylang E. Oil)

5 drs Vit E

Put sugar in a glass bowl. Add essential oils in different places on sugar mixture, Vit E, and mix well making sure no lumps present. Store in individual tin or glass containers or in a large glass jar, close the lid. Label.

The best way to take full advantage of the scrub is to have a footbath ready (heat up 2-3 pints of water, pour into a foot bowl or any large pan-tub-bucket that you could soak feet). First gently massage the scrub on your ankles and feet, then soak feet in the ready footbath for 10-15 minutes or till the water is warm, gently wash off the residual scrub in the footbath water, and pat dry your feet with a towel. Or if you just want to soak the feet in warm footbath without massaging the foot scrub, add 1/4 cup of Epsom salt and some Essential Oil (may be 4 drops Lavender Essential Oil, 2 drops Lemon Essential Oil, 2 drops Tea tree Essential Oil) to give your achy-tired feet some relief, wash off any foot odour, and feel rejuvenated.

Inspiring Charlie Chaplin Quotes

Inspiring Charlie Chaplin Quotes
A Lovely Monday Morning to You All!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING

Do you know……………I received Charlie Chaplin (an English comedic actor, filmmaker, composer, one of the most iconic figures in the film industry worldwide) quotes on WhatsApp. These are such inspirational and uplifting quotes, I wanted to share some with you:

  • A day without laughter is a day wasted.

                       Inspiring Life Lessons

  • Nothing is permanent in this wicked world – not even our troubles.
  • Life is a tragedy when seen in close-up, but a comedy in long-shot.
  • You’ll never find a rainbow if you’re looking down
  • We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other’s happiness, not by each other’s misery.
  • Failure is unimportant. It takes courage to make a fool of yourself.
  • I always like walking in the rain, so no one can see me crying.
  • To help a friend in need is easy, but to give him your time is not always opportune.

Lessons to be learnt from his precious thoughts are:

Self-love and be authentic

           Charlie Chaplin Inspiring Quotes

Maturity, don’t stay stuck in your own boundaries

Respect every individual the way you would like to be treated

Self-confidence to achieve success without any wrong doings

Modesty, being true and honest to yourself

Simplicity, by your nature and thinking

Follow your heart and instinct. work towards betterment of self and society

Respect and understand the preciousness of life

For many it will feel redundant, still it’s good practice to periodically renew these ideas. It’s nice to have the love and respect for humanity as there is enough room for everyone in this world and our mother earth is large enough to accommodate all of us where we can live in harmony and succeed peacefully. Aromatherapy using Essential Oils is a good approach to stay grounded and fulfil our goals. Essential Oils are natural, volatile, concentrated extract of different parts of plants and contain therapeutic properties. It has been used since ancient times for healing, health care, beauty products, meditation, etc. Essential Oils promote health of body, peacefulness of mind, helps a person get in touch with their true selves. Essential oils can be used by diffusing, or as a room spray, or applying topically at pressure points. Most of the grounding oils come from trees, barks and resins, as it’s evident that trees are intrinsically grounded through their root structure into the earth, e.g. Birch, Cypress, Cedarwood, Vetivert, Frankincense, Sandalwood, Myrrh, Patchouli, Orange, etc.

              Roller Essential Oil Blend

Grounding Roller Recipe

Importance of Lavender Essential Oil

Importance of Lavender Essential Oil

PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING

Do you know………. Lavender Essential Oil (Lavandula angustifolia) is just as popular today as it was over 2500 years ago. It has been used for centuries; Egyptians used for

                                Lavender Essential Oil

mummification, Greeks used for perfumery, Roman civilization recognized lavender for its healing and antiseptic qualities, in 16th century France, lavender was regarded as an effective and reliable anti-infection oil.

René-Maurice Gattefossé, a French chemist and scholar, born in Montchat near Lyon in 1881, is regarded as the Father of Aromatherapy and inventor of the word Aromatherapy. In 1910, while working in the laboratory, he burned his hand and plunged his hand into the nearest tub of liquid which just happened to be Lavender Essential Oil. He was later amazed with negligible amount of scarring and experienced firsthand the healing power of Lavender Oil on skin. This inspired him to experiment with Essential Oils during the First World War on soldiers in the military hospitals that increased the rate of healing the wound and so on. His book Aromathérapie: Les Huiles Essentielles Hormones Végétales, brought his ideas to the attention of a wider public in 1937. It was translated into English as Aromatherapy and so the name was born.

The name “Lavender” is derived from the Latin, lavare, meaning, “to wash”. Greeks and Romans perfumed their bathwater with lavender for clean wash, burned lavender incense. There are several species of lavender with hundreds of various genotypes differentiated by variations ranging from growth form to chemical composition of essential oil. Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is the most versatile of all essential oils that belongs to Lamiaceae family with calming, relaxing, and balancing attributes. It is extracted from the fragrant flowers of the lavender plant by steam distillation. The major constituents of Lavandula angustifolia essential oil are linalol (Monoterpinol), linalyl acetate (Esters), 1,8-cineole, camphor, and endo-borneol. Because of its sweet, floral, herbaceous fragrance and therapeutic properties, Lavender oil is used in everything from soaps, shampoos and lotions to potpourri, massage oils and air fresheners. It’s like having your own first-aid kit.

Lavender Essential Oil has many health benefits including:

  • It is used as a disinfectant, an antiseptic, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory
  • Nourishing skin due to its high antioxidant content
  • Reducing stress and anxiety
  • Sleep aid
  • Heal wounds and minor burns
  • Alleviating pain
  • Stimulating the brain
  • Improving blood circulation
  • Disinfecting and cleaning
  • As a natural air freshener

Easy, DIY Lavender Essential Oil Recipes:

Soothing facial toner: Add 2 drops of Lavender Oil (as an antiseptic) to 1 tsp of witch hazel (tones the skin). mix and soak a cotton ball with the blend, apply on the face daily or as needed.

Healing cuts and scrapes: Add 3-4 drops of Lavender oil to 1 tsp of Coconut Oil or Tamanu Oil (to promote wound healing by stimulating the skin to produce new cells), apply the mix with a Q-tip or a cotton ball or a clean hand to the bruise as needed. Can use Lavender essential oil directly on the cut to stop bleeding, pain, swelling.

Hair massage oil: Mix 10 drops each of Lavender, Cedarwood, and Thyme Essential Oil, 6 drops of Vit. E, in 1oz (30ml) of Coconut or Almond Oil. Massage into the scalp daily at night for a minimum of 3 months for possible hair growth. Can wash hair in the morning or leave it.

The Incredible Number 7

The Incredible Number 7
A Lovely Morning to You All!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING

Do you know………During my yoga and meditation sessions, number 7 is mentioned often either for repetition of a particular sequence or chanting of some mantra. Out of my curiosity, I started searching and was astounded with the wealth of information. Here, I am sharing with you some of the significance of number 7 without going into details.

     Lucky Number 7

7 is the number of completeness and perfection both physical as well as spiritual. The number 7 is tied directly to God’s creation of all things and much more prevalent in nature than most of us realize; There are 7 oceans, 7 continents, 7 vertebrae in the neck, 7 basic chakras in our body, 7 layers of skin (2 outer and 5 inner), ocean waves roll in sevens, 7 colors in rainbow, music has 7 notes, there are 7 directions, the Jewish Menorah has 7 candles, the earth was created in 7 days (including a day of rest, hence 7 days in a week), a cube has 7 dimensions (including the inside), there are 7 deadly sins, 7 virtues, 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit, 7 classical planets, 7 hills in Istanbul, Rome and Jerusalem, 7 wonders of the ancient world. The number 7 is also important in Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, and Judaism. The number 7 is also featured in the Book of Revelation (7 churches, 7 angels, 7 seals, 7 trumpets, and 7 stars). The Koran speaks of 7 heavens and Muslim pilgrims walk around the Kaaba in Mecca 7 times. In Hinduism there are 7 higher worlds and 7 underworlds, 7 sages or Saptarishi, 7 stars in a constellation called Saptharishi Mandalam (Great Bear constellation, clearly visible from earth in the northern direction and it looks like a kite in the space), 7 promises, or Saptapadi, and 7 circumambulations around a fire at Hindu weddings, 7 octets or Saptak Swaras in Indian Music as the basis for Ragas compositions. In Buddhism 7 is the number of ascent, and Buddha is said to have walked this number of steps at his birth.

In medieval education, students pursued a total of seven subjects (the trivium -grammar, rhetoric, logic and the quadrivium – music, arithmetic, geometry, astronomy), collectively known as the liberal arts. In modern times, 7 is the number of games in the playoffs for NHL, MLB and NBA. There is an obvious 7-year economics crash cycle for example starting from 1966, then 1973, then 1980, then 1987, then 1994, then 2001, so on and so forth. 7 not only represents the jackpot on slot machines, but it is also the basis for many myths and folklore. In 1956, George Miller of Harvard University wrote that most people can retain roughly seven items of information in their short term memory. That is why phone numbers in the U.S. and many other countries tend to have 7 digits in a phone number after the area code. 7 is a prime number. Prime numbers are those that can only be divided by themselves and by the number 1 and 7 is considered by some to be the most ‘prime’ number within the first 10 numbers as it cannot be multiplied within the group, making it a kind of optimal-prime. It is also symbolic of togetherness and, as a result, is seen as a good omen in relationships.

It is this combination of cultural, historical, religious, numerical, and psychological factors that contribute to the allure of the number 7. If we do proper research, we will find many more significance of number 7.

Aromatherapy for Body Odor

Aromatherapy for Body Odor
A Lovely Monday Morning to You All!
PLEASE STAY SAFE FROM CORONA VIRUS (COVID-19). FOLLOW GOOD HAND HYGIENE and MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING

Do you know…………… Body odor is the unpleasant smell our body gives off when natural skin bacteria breaks down sweat proteins into acids.

                                      Body Odor

It is also known as B.O., Bromhidrosis, Osmidrosis, or Ozochrotia. Some other causes of offensive body odor include poor hygiene, nutrient deficiencies, diet, medication, gastrointestinal problems like chronic constipation, and underlying medical problems, such as; genetic metabolic disorders, liver disease, or diabetes. Each person’s unique body odor can be used to identify people, especially by our pets, like dogs and other animals.

Sweating, in general, is the body’s natural way to regulate its temperature, but unpleasant body odor can affect our confidence and personality. Bacteria breakdown proteins in our sweat into two acids – propionic acid and isovaleric acid. Propionic acid is produced when Propionibacteria break down amino acids. It has a pungent smell and is often associated with vinegar, while Isovaleric acid, also found in many kinds of cheese, is produced by Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. Human body also has two types of sweat glands, Eccrine Glands: These glands are found throughout the body and produce sweat for maintaining our body temperature. Apocrine Glands(scent gland): These glands are found in our armpits, eyelids, genital area, breasts and are usually responsible for the foul odor produced by our body,

Body odor can be treated by practicing good hygiene and with over-the-counter medicines or Anti-perspirants or Deodorants. But lately, there has been a lot of debate surrounding the chemicals used in deodorants and their cumulative adverse effect on the human body. The safer, alternative, simple, and natural home remedies that help get rid of body odor by controlling the growth of bacteria and reducing excessive sweating, is the use of Essential Oils. Essential oils are natural, volatile, concentrated, liquid extract of different parts of plants that possess individual therapeutic properties:
